When you long to get away from the big city do as the Swedes - take a boat trip out into the archipelago. You will find yourself surrounded by beautiful islands, nature and peace. Usually it is possible to stay overnight in reasonable accommodation often with shared shower and WC. Also you can settle for a good meal in a restaurant with beautiful views. You can go out for the day or stay as long as you like as you go round amongst the thousands of islands. Here are some suggestions.

Finnhamn has that ”old world” look with farms, undisturbed archipelago nature and a restaurant with a lovely terrace where you can enjoy good food and drink.

Sandhamn, far out in the archipelago, is renowned for good food, beautiful beaches and as a focal point for yachtsmen.

Fjäderholmarna, nearer to Stockholm, is suitable for a shorter trip to a pub with very popular food. Lunch and dinner. Better to book!

And do not forget that you can hire a kayak for a few hours or days - with or without a guide.
