With its 24,000 islands, the Stockholm archipelago is a unique place to spend time all year round.
The closest destination is the charming town of Vaxholm. If you like walking, fishing or taking a winter dip followed by a sauna, you may be tempted by Finnhamn and Möja, which lie a little further out. The island of Sandhamn is known for its cultural heritage, restaurants and regattas and has several fine hotels.

Many of the islands in the archipelago can be reached by boat from central Stockholm. Take a day trip or spend a few nights in a hotel or youth hostel. No matter what you do, the experience will be special since the Stockholm archipelago offers a world of possibilities to tourists and Stockholmers alike.
